"The creation of a sculpture is a path of discovery. Why we look the way we do, what the connections between emotion and gesture are, how does form affect light, and how do I feel about these things as a work progresses. I begin each piece with an idea about how a gesture can reflect an emotion, remain open to all of the possibilities that lie within that idea, and allow what I discover along the way to guide my hand to the end result. This process is alive, and humbling, and engages my artistic sensibility to understand why we are what we are."
